April 24, 1894 ~ Tuesday

24 Keys crossed I received 2 letters from Wm McEwan and
Cornelius Schettler they were both Excellent
Letters we also received a package of Photographs of
the five Missionaries who went as Missionaries
from Salt Lake including Owen we also got
near a Dozen single Likenesses of Owen I also wrote
A hand pointing to the right one Letter to Wm McEwan it is a warm plesant day

Letter from Thomas Heddock Hilton, 24 April 1894
To The First Presidency Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Brethren, I deem it my duty to inform you of the severe illness of Elder R M Stevens who is at the present time suffering from typhoid fever; he has been feeling rather miserable for several weeks past but has been confined to his bed but five days. he is in a very weak condition but is improving slowly; every thing that lays in our power is being done for his comfort and we hope to see him well again in a few days. With this exception we are all feeling as well as us- ual and we feel to rejoice in the work we have to perform. The Work of the Lord upon Samoa is hin- dered a great deal on account of the present civil war but a^d^itional baptisms are continually being handed in, and the missionaries throughout are enjoying a first class Spirit. Elder Jos. H. Merrill has requested that $22.50 be refund ed to him, the cost of the fence that surrounded his wifes grave; Bro Merrill informs us that Elder Wm O. Lee promised him that the church would pay for the same at the time of its building, in fact ^he^ requested Elder M. to build it, and when it was completed he changed his minds, and Elder M. was compelled
