President Wilford Woodruff: Box B. Salt Lake City Utah Dear Brother: I regret the necessity of intruding upon your valuable time and strength, but thought it better than to err in any of the matters submitted: Enclosed please find two letters from Elder Truman H. Barlow Prest. of the Indiana Conference. The first explains itself. The second came in answer to my let- ter asking for information as to the general state of af- fairs in that Conference; and asks how he felt in re- gard to how he felt about remaining in the field until our next falls Conference, as he will have been two (2) years in the field on May 31st inst. If Prest. Barlow is released we ought to have three (3) Elders as soon as it would be convenient to send them. If Prest B. is not re- leased we need two (2) both or one to be sent to [blank] Bloomfield Green Co- Indiana one to be sent to my address here and we will know by that time just where to send him. Letter from Marriner Wood Merrill, 27 April 1894

W. Merrill

President Woodruff: Dear Brother, It affords me the greatest pleasure to have the privilege of taking my pen in hand to impress upon these dainty pages the feelings of ^my^ heart and mind regarding such an important and res- ponsible position that I have been called to. For I deem it the greatest honour that could be placed upon me, especially at my early age of life while my mind and body is free from the cares and anxiety of a family, and my mind young
