Letter from John Carlile, 30 January 1895

Willford Woodruff Dear brother I will be with you at the appointed time ready to start on my mission Your Brother in the circh John Carlile Thomas Hicken Jr Bishop Prompt, and to the point! J. F. S.

Letter from Thomas Heddock Hilton, 30 January 1895

To The First Presidency Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Brethren: Your kind favor of the 3rd inst. is at hand; was indeed pleased to hear from you once more. The Elders arrive all O.K. and brought with them the leather, nails, horse-shoes, tracts etc., but not the much needed harness. They arrived here enjoying health & strength but report very poor ac- commodations on board the "Arawa." In response to your inquiry, concerning the Elder best adapted to preside over this mission, I would recom^m^end Elder Jno W. Beck, of Paris Idaho, who is at present presiding Elder over the Savaii branch. Owing to the very poor accommodations for steerage passengers, that this line affords, now that the "Monowi" is removed, I will be pleased to hear from the Canadian Pacific Steamship Co. and hope that satisfactory arrangements can be made with them to cary our Samoan Missionaries. Considering the prolonged and severe illness of sister Maggie R. Durham, also sister Maria L. R. Adams, on Tonga, I have decided to release them to return
