Letter from Benjamin Cluff Jr. to the First Presidency, 28 April 1896
Presidents Wilford Woodruff, George Q. Cannon Joseph F. Smith, Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Brethren: Some time ago Brother H. E. Bowman of Kanab called at the Academy for the purpose of obtaining if possible a suitable teacher for their schools in Kanab. They desired a man who could also be useful to them in sabbath schools and in the young men's associations. Only one man in our school ai is available, Brother A. B. Christensen, who, however, is called on a mission. Brother Christensen is willing to do whatever you as the Presidency may direct. I enclose you herewith letters from Brother Woolley which will indicate the urgent necessity of having a suitable man to aid them, and I^,^ also^,^ heartily recommend that if it meets your minds that Brother Christensen be released to go to teach school and aid them in their labors in Kanab. Very respectfully, B. Cluff, Jr. Pres't. Woodruff thinks that bro. A. B. Christianson should be honorably released from the call made upon him to take a mission, in order that he may go to Kanab and take care of their school as desired. J. F. S.
