Aug 21st I had a very restless night, Alice was so sick besides her other ailments
she had cramping in her arms and legs. Dr Snow prescribed for her. I did not
go to the office today. tried to get some rest at home.

Dear Sir: Two Summers ago I made you an offer of two large Oil Paintings (the largest in the United States) which you said "you could not avail yourself of at present." I wish now to make you another offer, & if I am encouraged into the belief that I shall be successful with the sale, I will send a small picture as a sample for inspection. The two large pictures which have been for 10 years in the Capitol at Austin, Tex. are Historical & Original Paintings. The one being "Jephthah & his [Judges 11:1-12:7]
