August 16, 1898 ~ Tuesday

1898.
Tues Aug 16th Servant Moses drove us in a Burouch through
the Park, it was very cold. We saw many of the soldiers on parade.
I had a man by the name of [blank] to come and doctor me &
Bro Cannon. He rubbed us all over with oil. He said I was the smartest
man he ever saw of my age.

Letter from Willard Done, 16 August 1898
President Wilford Woodruff, Dear Brother: About two years ago, I dictated a letter to you asking for your portrait to hang in the rooms of our College building, but withheld the letter in the hope that by this time a building more worthy than our present one would have been secured. I now write to ask if you will favor us by sending your portrait, suitably framed, for this purpose. I realize that nothing is more conducive to re- spect for the Priesthood on the part of our young people, and loyalty to the cause, than to connect with our teachings in that direction the impression naturally created by portraits of the general author- ities of the Church. Trusting you will be able to favor us, I remain Your brother as ever, Willard Done.
