Before starting upon our missions to England
we were under the necessity of settling our
families, And as a place called Commerce
afterwards called Named Nauvoo was chosen
for our people to settle I left Quincy in
company with El Brother Brigham Young & our
families on the 15 May and arrived in Commerce
on the 18^th and after an interview with Joseph
we crossed the river into the old Military Barracks
in Iowa, and there took up our alode abode
for our Families, President Brigham Young and myself
