I was Appointed Assistant Historian & commenced labour in the office on the 15 day of April 1856 & spent my whole time in the office except while in the Legislature up to this date. I was called upon to preside over the Missionaries in the City of the Great Salt Lake & I attended of a meeting some kind nearly evry evening in the week during the winter
