Algernon Sidney Gilbert
Algernon Sidney Gilbert (1789-1834) was born 28 Dec. 1789 in New Haven, New Haven Co., Connecticut. He was the son of Eli Gilbert and Lydia Hemingway. He married Elizabeth Van Benthusen on 30 Sep. 1823 in Chagrin, Geauga Co., Ohio. He was baptized in 1831. He hosted the men of Zion's Camp in 1834, including Wilford Woodruff. He died 29 Jun. 1834 near Rush Creek, Clay Co., Missouri.
