Edward Rutledge

Edward Rutledge (1749-1800) was born 23 Nov. 1749 in South Carolina. He was the son of John Rutledge and Sarah Hext. He married Henrietta Middleton on 1 Mar. 1774; widowed 22 Apr. 1792. He married Mary Shubrick Eveleigh on 28 Oct. 1792. He died 23 Jan. 1800 in Charleston, Charleston Co., South Carolina. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and one of the eminent men for whom Wilford Woodruff initiated proxy temple ordinance work in Aug. 1877.
