Ira Elias Merrill

1835-1860

Ira Elias Merrill (1835-1860) was born 21 Apr. 1835 in Alden, Erie Co., New York. He was the son of Austin Shepard Merrill and Laura Wilder Harris. He married Lucinda Jane Olmstead Shoemaker on 24 Feb. 1856. He was killed and his brother was wounded in Smithfield, Cache Co., Utah Territory according to Wilford Woodruff's journal entry on 27 Jul. 1860. He died 23 Jul. 1860 in Smithfield.
