Barlow, Israel (1806-1883), was born on 13 Sep. 1806 in Granville, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Jonathan Barlow and Anniss Gillett. He was baptized by Brigham Young in Kirtland, Geauga County, Ohio in 1834. Along with Wilford Woodruff, he participated in Zion’s Camp and the Kirtland Safety Society. After marrying Elizabeth Haven on 23 Feb. 1840, the couple moved to Commerce (later Nauvoo), Hancock County, Illinois, where they were associated with Wilford Woodruff. He died in the Salt Lake Valley what is now Bountiful, Davis County, Utah on 1 Nov. 1883.
