Jacob Gates

Jacob Gates (1811-1892) was born 9 Mar. 1811 in St. Johnsbury, Caledonia Co., Vermont. He was the son of Thomas Gates and Patty Plumley. He married Mary Snow on 16 Mar. 1833 in St. Johnsbury; participated in plural marriage. He was baptized 18 Jun. 1833. He served in church positions alongside Wilford Woodruff from about 1834 to 1892. He died 14 Apr. 1892 in Provo, Utah Co., Utah Territory.
