James Barnes

Barnes, James (1815-1890), was born 10 Feb. 1815 in Eldersfield, Worcestershire County, England. He was the son of Thomas Barnes and Sarah Reeves. Barnes was baptized by Wilford Woodruff on 10 Mar. 1840. He was called to serve a mission in Herefordshire, England, Aug. 1840-Mar. 1841. He married Charlotte Cartwright on 3 May 1841; participated in plural marriage. They emigrated from Bristol to Quebec aboard the Harmony, May-July 1841. They were sealed in the Nauvoo Temple and he was ordained to the First Council of Seventy. They settled in the Iowa Territory, by 1842 and migrated to Utah by 1860, settling in Great Salt Lake City. Barnes died 28 Apr. 1890 in Salt Lake City.
