James Gordon Bennett

James Gordon Bennett (1795-1872) was born 1 Sep. 1795 in Newmill, Keith, Banffshire, Scotland. He married Henrietta Agnes Crean in 1840. He was awarded “freedom of the city” of Nauvoo and the Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Nauvoo in 1842 while Wilford Woodruff was on the Nauvoo City Council. He died 1 Jun. 1872 in New York City, New York Co., New York.
