James Knox Polk

James Knox Polk (1795-1849) was born 2 Nov. 1795 in Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina. He was the son of Samuel Polk and Jane Knox. He married Sarah Childress on 1 Jan. 1824 in Rutherford Co., Tennessee. He died 15 Jun. 1849 in Davidson Co., Tennessee. He was one of the eminent men for whom Wilford Woodruff initiated proxy temple ordinance work in Aug. 1877.
