John Alexander Hicks
1801-1897
John Alexander Hicks (abt. 1801-1897) was born about 1801 in Co. Fermanagh, Ireland. He was the son of Robert Hicks and Frances Armstrong. He married Lydia McLake on 26 Dec. 1836 in Chinquacousy, Upper Canada, British North America. He married Phoebe N. Gordon on 8 Jun. 1845 in Rock Island Co., Illinois. He married Phoebe Morford on 7 Jan. 1866 in Brown Co., Ohio. He was baptized before Jul. 1838. He was involved in the death of Joseph Smith Jr., as recorded by Stephen Markham in an 1856 letter to Wilford Woodruff. He died in Dec. 1897 in Jackson Co., Oregon.
