John Portineus Greene

John Portineus Greene (1793-1844) was born 3 Sep. 1793 in Herkimer, Herkimer Co., New York. He was the son of John Coddington Greene and Anna Chapman. He married Rhoda Young on 11 Feb. 1813; widowed in 1841. He married Mary Eliza Nelson on 6 Dec. 1841 in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois. He was baptized Apr. 1832. He lived in Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio and Nauvoo, where he attended meetings with Wilford Woodruff from 1837 to 1844. He died 10 Sep. 1844 in Nauvoo.
