Luther Calderwood (1802-1865) was born 25 Jun. 1802 in Vinalhaven, Hancock Co., Maine. He was the son of James Calderwood and Jane Locker. He married Rebecca Arey on 15 Jan. 1829 in Vinalhaven; widowed 10 Apr. 1832. He married Esther Emery Burding on 5 Dec. 1832 in Belfast, Waldo Co., Maine. He hosted Wilford Woodruff on 8 Sep. 1837 on the South Fox Island, Hancock Co., Maine. He died 11 Feb. 1865 and was buried in Vinalhaven.
