Philemon Christopher Merrill

Philemon Christopher Merrill (1820-1904) was born 12 Nov. 1820 in Byron, Genesee Co., New York. He was the son of Samuel Merrill and Phebe Odell. He married Cyrena Dustin on 20 Sep. 1840 in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois; participated in plural marriage. He was baptized 14 Mar. 1839. He preached at a meeting Wilford Woodruff attended on 17 Aug. 1856, his company's arrival in Salt Lake City was recorded in Wilford's journal on 30 Aug. 1856, and his role as Colonel over Davis County troops was mentioned in Wilford's journal on 10 Nov. 1857. He died 16 Sep. 1904 in San Jose, Graham Co., Arizona Territory.
