Rachel Steele Cossett

Rachel Steele Cossett (Cossitt) (1781-1850) was born 17 Sep. 1781 in Connecticut. She was the daughter of Ebenezer Steele and Rachel Seymour. She married Asa Cossett, Jr., a distant relative of Azuba Hart, Wilford Woodruff’s step-mother, on 19 Mar. 1811 in West Hartford, Hartford Co., Connecticut, and they had five children. She died 5 Oct. 1850 in New Brighton, Richmond Co., New York. Her proxy temple ordinance work was initiated by Wilford Woodruff on 1 Jun. 1870.
