Roger Sherman

Roger Sherman (1721-1793) was born 19 Apr. 1721 in Newton, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts Bay, British Colonial America. He was the son of William Sherman and Mehitable Wellington. He married Elizabeth Hartwell in 1749 in New Milford, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, British Colonial America; widowed 19 Oct. 1760. He married Rebekah Prescot on 11 May 1763 in Danvers, Essex, Massachusetts Bay, British Colonial America. He died 23 Jul. 1793 in New Haven, New Haven Co., Connecticut. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and one of the eminent men for whom Wilford Woodruff initiated proxy temple ordinance work in Aug. 1877.
