Samuel Houston, an American military officer and President of the Republic of Texas, was mentioned in remarks that Joseph Smith Jr. gave at the dedication of the Nauvoo Masonic Hall in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, and recorded by Wilford Woodruff in his journal on 5 Apr. 1844.
