Ulysses S. Grant
Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885) was born 27 Apr. 1822 in Pleasant Point, Clermont Co., Ohio. He was the son of James Root Grant and Hannah Simpson. He married Julia Dent on 10 Sep. 1848 in St. Louis, St. Louis Co., Missouri. He served as President of the United States from 1869 to 1877 while Wilford Woodruff was part of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and they met in Oct. 1875 when President Grant and his family visited Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., Utah Territory. He died 23 Jul. 1885 in Saratoga Co., New York.
