18th I spent several hours with Philo Dibble in
viewing his lot of land he promises to give me a deed
of one acre of land & gives me the privilege of selling the whole

December 7, 1841 ~ Tuesday Dec 7th I spent most of my time in the Store but in the evening I attended meeting & herd a discourse deliverd by Lyman Wight who declaired some most stirling truths concerning the building of the Temple & the Nauvoo House if the Saints did not do it they would be rejected as a Church with their dead saith the Lord we should again be driven &c he spoke in truth & the Spirit of God

[FIGURE] Resolved by the City Col of the City of Nauvoo, that the high minded & honorable Editor of the New York Weekly Herald, James Gordon Bennett, Esq. is deserving of the lasting gratitude of this Community for his very liberal & unprejudiced Course towards us as a People in giving us a fair hearing in his Papers—thus enabling us to reach the ears of a portion of the Community who, otherwise, would ever have remained ignorant of our Principles & Practises. Resolved, that we recommend to our fellow Citizens to subscribe to the "New York Weekly Herald," & that be found patronizing true Merit, Industry, & enterprize" Yeas. Joseph Smith, A. Smith, C. C.
