June 7th AD 1845
[FIGURE] Book of Doctrines & Covenants of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints entered at Stationers Hall by W. Woodruff

I recieved a copy of a letter written by John
Greenhow to his Father in England stating that
he was sterrotyping the Doctrins & Covenants
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints at an expens of $300 dollars was to be in England
about the first of May should strike of[f] a few copies &
secure the copy wright & deprive us the privilege of printing
them this was to be kept a secret from me or any of the
Church but through the mercy of God it fell into my hands
& as I was the ownly lawful Proprietor or agent for the
Church I immediately employed a printer & Printed
three thousand copies And I this Day secured the copy-
right in my own name at the Stationers Hall in London
carryed one copy according to Law to the British Museum
& got my reciept for it. I walked through a number
of the streets in London that I had walked through in
1840 & [18]41 with Elders Kimball & G. A. Smith. I returned
to No 10 Thornhill Pentonville & wrote three Letters
A hand pointing to the right one to Mrs Woodruff one to Thomas Ward & one
to M Holmes I spent the night with Br Davis 6 m[iles]
I had an interview in the evening with James Albon I
8th found him filled with a bad spirit, he was indeed
an accuseer of the brethren hardly any one escaped
his malace A hand pointing to the right I wrote A letter to cousin Betsey Cossett in

Autobiography Volume 2 circa 1865
As refered to elsewhere in my autobiography I had received a copy of a letter from John Greenhow to his father in England stating that he was stereotyping the Book of Doctrine and Covenants of the Chuch at an expence of $300 and that he would be in England about the 1st of May when he should strike off a few copies of the book and deprive us of the privilege of printing it. This was to be kept a profound secret but through the mercy of God the knowledge fell into my hands and I as the lawful agent of the Church immediately employed a printer and printed three thousand copies. And on this 7th of June I secured the copyright of the Book of Doctrine and Covenants in my own name at Stationers Hall London and carried one copy according to law to the British Museum and got my receipt for it I spent several weeks in London and while there the case of Elder Albon was before the Church. He was the minister of the Indipendant connection whom we baptized at the commencement of the work in London on my former mission to England. He was brought to trial for resisting the order
