After travelling a few miles on we were visited by Elder Parley P. Pratt who was direct from Council Bluffs and was a Messenger to all the Camp of Isreal. I formed a circle of about 50 waggons and he delivered his errand. He was sent to raise a company of men as pioneers to go immediately to the mountains without their families to pick out a location and put in spring and fall crops. The quorum of the Twelve had volunteered to go After we got our message I drove ahead as fast as possible with my teams. We travelled 20 miles with our ox waggons and camped at about 10 o'clock at night man and beast wearied out.
