26th Sunday [FIGURES]
This was one of the hardest days work
of my life we commenced at about sun
rise to take our cows over with a skiff
we took 5 or 6 cows at a time in the water
tied there heads to the boat, And rowed them
over the river untill we had taken over 20
cows we also took over some of our oxen
in the same way And we having to furnish our
own men And not having men enough without
making it vary laborious upon us all so I took
one of the oars myself And Assisted in ferrying
in the Hot sun untill I was nearly melted I
then drove teams up the Hills through the
mud And bad roads untill I felt exhausted
the ferry man tore open the belly of one of my
best oxen which had to be sowed up & docterd
And when I got through my days work I felt
hardly able to stand up 6 mile
