Salt Lake City, Utah, President John Taylor Dear Brother I recieved your letter of Dec 16. But have not answered it before for I have not had anything of importance to lay before you. But there is a few things I would like to say this mor- ning First I will say I have made satisfa- ctory arangements with the party spoken of in your Letter M. H. Letter from George Teasdale, 20 January 1887
My beloved Brother: As this is the first communication to you this year, I shall do myself the pleasure of wis[h-] [page cut off] ing you a happy, peaceful, prosperous New Year, wh[ich] [page cut off] I do with all my heart. You must forgive me for no[t] [page cut off] answering your very welcome letter, of the 18th Nov sooner. To tell the truth I do not have so much [page cut off] here as I had in Mexico, and there towards the latte[r] and I was very busy turning over affairs to other [page cut off] I was very interested in that mission, and di[d] [page cut off] all I could, under the blessing of God, to make it a success. When I left things were shaping very s[atis-] [page cut off] factory. Bro. Wm D. Johnson Jr writes me he has put a good house and several of the brethren had done [the s]ame. They have two settlements, Juarez, and Diez. Juarez is near Casas Grandes, and Diez near La Ascencion. The brethren at the last named place were kind enough to call it Teasdale, as they said I had given so much support to the miss[ion] [page cut off] and had been with them from the beginning, but [I] [page cut off] suggested it should be called Diez. I told them I appreciated the honor, as I knew it sprang from the good feeling towards me, and I knew I should alw[ays] [page cut off] live in their memory: but as we were in a spanis[h] [page cut off] ^speaking^ country, they would not put the English accent but the spanish and make it sound something else. I suggested that as the President of Republic had be[en] [page cut off]
