I received 15 Letters 12 public & 3 private I signed 15 Recommends
I spent most of the day in bed and was vary poorly

Salt Lake City, Utah, The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Dear Brethren: Your decision to assist my mother has been communicated to me, and I desire to express to you our gratitude for your generous action. You are all, probably, aware that I have been admitted as an attorney and counselor in the higest court of New York, and that I have since my graduation at the Law School of Columbia College devoted myself more or less to the pursuit of legal law. It is my intention to continue my law studies since I believe that as is speculated in that direction I shall succeed better in the Army and at the same time provide myself with a propension for civil life, if circumstances at some future day render it advisable that I leave the service. I would therefore suggest to your respect- ful consideration that I be employed by you for such services in the direction indicated as I shall be able to render. After performing my military duties I shall always have time which I could spend either in consultation or research, or in such way as superior counsel might indicate. I might, if thought desirable
