Letter from Charles Ora Card, 13 August 1888
Prest. Wilford Woodruff. Salt Lake City Utah U. S. A. Dear Brother Your esteemed ^favor^ of the 25th ult. came to hand last evening and the news it brought to us sees very interesting indeed. The prospect of seeing some of you before long, is a great relief to me. I can assure you, for I much feel the need ^of council^ and advice o ^from^ any file leaders, as it is very important in a strange land to make a proper start and loose no grounds. The health and spirits of the people are good; All moving along with cheerful countenances and filled with hopes of a brighter future for the afflicted saints. I certainly feel anxious that you may have a "breathing spell" and an opper- tunity to recuperate from the arduous toils of the recent past. It seems hard that the church should loose so much means at the present time, but the prospect of saving our Temples and Tabernacles is very gratifying to me even if it is done at a sacrifice. Sacrifice bring forth the Blessings of Heaven and sure the saints will have much to their credit.
