Mancos Colo. Prest Wilford Woodruff Salt Lake City Utah. My Dear Brother When I wrote you accepting my call and appointment as a missionary to the Northwestern states, I fully believed I could be ready this Spring, but circumstances have so turned that I cannot be ready without leaving some debts which I ought to pay. President Willford Woodruff Dear Bro. In compliance with the request of of Pres. George Q. Cannon, we visited Malad City, held a Council meeting with the Bishops and leading men in that part of Oneida Co, Idaho. In regard to their Political sutiation [situation] and to consider the best plan to be adopted, at the comming April term of Court. And we find after carefull investigation of their situation, and the obligations they are under. It would be for their best good, for to assist the Tax Payers party to contest the late election. This was the unanimous feeleing of the Bishops and high councilors ^and other leading men^ present
Letter to Emma Smith Woodruff, 20 March 1887
Salt Lake City, Utah, Sunday March 20 1889 My Dear Emma I wrote you yesterday in a hurry but this plesant Sunday Morning I have taken a walk on the Bluff with my spy glass to see how my 100 Ducks & quails were I found them all right on my return I looked at the spot where you sat half a day reading or writing and the place looked lonesom for there was No Emma there if I had seen her there she would not have been alone very long on my return I went to the garden where the sheep were turned in, in the winter & nearly all of the orchard was ruined except 6 pear trees which are heavily set for fruit the Assparagus is coming up most large enough to cut while looking at the garden a Man appeared on horsback on the East Holle so I had to make to my room so while At is talking to the Man I concluded to write to you (you say in your last Letter that my Letter had No date, I did not know that I even wrote Letters without dating them) Hullow here comes Br Thompsom with his waggon for me to go to the Templ to night I want to see H. J. G. I shall have to travel to night There has been so many callers since I commenced to write that if I had any News it is
