Letter from W. Edberg, 11 October 1889
Battle Creek, Dear Sir and beloved Brother in Christ, I beg excuse for my constantly troubling you with my correspondence, but I hope your brotherly charity will pardon my freedom, being one of the lost of the house of Israel, searching for the church of the Messiah and Christ. I have come to America on purpose, to hunt up my brethren; the pamphlet, which you have sent me, is not sufficient for me, notwithstanding it has given me much light. I have sent you 2 letters, and have not received an answer yet; the first was dated Septbr. 27th, the other under October 3rd I mistrust, thinking you may have answered my letters, and perhaps they have not reached me, because I lodge with an Adventist and work likewise in an Adventist printing Office. They wish me to joyin them and labor among the Polish and Jewish people. My idea is to stay here in Battle Creek only about 10 days longer, but not my will, but God's will may be done. Where I shall go next, I do not know, have no apoint- ment made. Were it perhaps possible, for me to earn my bread in Salt Lake City? As I have informed you before, bymy occupation is Surgeon. I have studied it an^d^ can bring my diplomas, as also docum- ents in writing from hospitals, where I have labored for years. Because my
Letter from Achilles Adolph Ramseyer, 11 October 1889
A Ramsayer Salt Lake City Rcd Oct 14 [18]89 Salt Lake City Oct. 11th 1889. President W. Woodruff. Dear Brother, Some time ago I wrote to you desiring an en- terview with you, and stated that I would call on your office for an answer; I went several time in vain, and I gave it up, but I cannot obtain rest till my desire is fulfilled, and I most respectfully ask you to be kind enough and grant me a short time where I can
Letter to James Godson Bleak, 11 October 1889
[1889] To James G. Bleak St. George. Dear Brother: I enclose a letter to you from Sister Bleak, and in reply to her letter I want to say to you that President Taylor made an appropriation to [smudged ink] in St. George, of $100, and I think you had charge at the time of [smudged ink] office. You paid me $100 in gold on that account. Now I want to [smudged ink] if I borrowed $100 of you on your own account. If so, did I give a note for [smudged ink] I have no recollection in the world of borrowing $100 of you, outside of the $100 appropriated by President Taylor. Now, if I did borrow the $100 of [smudged ink] Sister Bleak spoken of, I certainly want to pay it. It seems strange to [smudged ink] I forget it, for I am generally very particular about borrowing money. If I borrowed this money of you, besides the appropriation I do not want [smudged ink] any scruples about it, but if I did, tell me so and I will pay you if I borrowed the money, I would like the day and date, and also say if I have a note. I would pay it just as quick without a note as with. I would like her letter [smudged ink] to me, with a correct knowledge of the matter. [smudged ink] this subject, I wish to say that we have had Brother McAllister [smudged ink] almost daily [smudged ink]> St. George affairs. We have decided pipefrom the [smudged ink] to the temple, I have sent for all that piping that is lacking all accord- ing to the calculations made by Brother Ottinger. I learn that the City owns
