Journal Entry

November 16, 1889 ~ Saturday

Nov 16th. We arrived at Pocatello this morning
about 6 o'clock, where we met Bros John W. Young & Chas.
H. Wilcken
on the platform of the car as the train stopped
We immediately transferred our effects to the special
car provided by Bro. John W. Young. Bro. Cannon went
down on the Regular train. We laid over a short time
at Logan and Mendon and reached Ogden at 8 p.m.
where part of our company joined B[isho]p. Sharp on his special
car. Myself & party came on to Salt Lake but ^we^ were
detained for train orders at ogden a long time. We
arrived at the City at about 12 o'clock, and arrived at
home shortly after having been met by carriages by
Bro Samuel Bateman. We travelled during this
journey some 6400 miles ^about 5000 Mils^ (6,400 M.)

President Wilford Woodruff Salt Lake City Utah U. S. A. Dear Brother Agreeable to your request I forward you a statement of the expensse of Ranch improvements and the cutting and putting up hay for the stock. It exce^e^ds a little of what I told you I thought it would come to. We put up about 300 tons of hay and made the improve you saw and hauled the material from 26 to 50 miles. I know we usially do much of such labor in Older settlements on Labor tithing but one half the people who are here came this year and they find themselves excedingly busy in housing themselves and I have been compelled to hire those I could, but I have been very fortunate in procuring good hands and teams. The major portion of the Work done this season will not have to be done next. Our horse corralls and stables are as substamtial as the material and
