Discourse 1890-04-05

President Woodruff Stated that it had been customary for some time past to read reports and present the authorities of the Church to the general assembly on the last day of Conference. There would be a departure from that rule this time so as to reserve tomorrow exclusively for preaching, and the presentations would be made this afternoon.

Letter from Alexander Findlay Macdonald, 5 April 1890

Colonia Juarez Mex. Pres. W. Woodruff and Counsellors Dear Brethern Your favor of Mar. 22nd has come to hand; with the gratifying news, that we are to be visitd by you; in this distant land. Apostles Lyman & Smith. wrote us from St Joseph Stake, of their recall to be at S. L. City; April Conference; your contemplated visit in the near future, will fully compensate the disappointment first felt; seeing the Hand of God in whatever transpires, Bro. H. Eyring and others intended to have been at S. L City. now to conference, and he yet expects to start for Deming on Tusday next to visit his family at St George, and will probably see you. To day shows the first favorable signs for a rain which is much needed. All in this part is moving along peaceably, the general health is good. Bros. Lyman & Smith decided to come in via. Deming N. M. which being a good road to Diaz: in fact all the way up the valley of Casas Grandes; would involve camping out one night; before reaching Diaz. Whichever route you elect to come, if via El Paso, It will be a pleasure to arrange to meet you, and trust your time, and multipled labors, will make it a visit of profit and recreation with kindest regards. Yours in the Gospel Cov. A. F. Macdonald
