Prest Wilford Woodruff and Council. Beloved Brethren: Since last writing to you I have attended Conferences of the Welsh and Scottish Missions. We had excellent meet- ings which were well attended, but the reports were not very encouraging with regard to bap- tisms. In the Welsh Mission they had not baptized one in six months, but in Scotland two baptisms were reported, for the six months, and six baptisms in July, since the 30th of June. In the six months 15,531 tracts had been distributed, 26 of the cheap edition of the Book of Mormon had been sold, and 189 cheap Voice of Warning. In the Scottish Mission 13,265 tracts had been distributed by the Glasgow Tract Society, in six months, and 14,619 by the Elders &c in their districts for three months report, making a total of 27,884 tracts distributed, 11 Books of Mormon sold, 5 loaned, 13 Voice of Warning sold, 8 loaned, 5 given away by the Elders, to friends or acquaintance. There is a seem ing indifference amongst the people generally, or if convinced lack the moral courage to obey; Yet the Elders are in no wise discouraged, they feel well, and we hade most excellent meetings.
