Aug 17, 1890
we met with the sunday school G. Q. Cannon spok
to the scholtars. The quarterly conference opened at 10 oclk
prayer By R H Roberts W Woodruff made a few
remarks then called upon G Q Cannon to speak He
spoke 60 minutes J F Smith spoke 30 M[inutes]. Afternoon
Prayer By Bishop Bertleson W Woodruff spok 60 Minutes
Br Morgan 15 M[inutes], G. Q. Cannon 5 M[inutes]. We held a
Priesthood meeting in the Evening G Q spoke 30 M[inutes]
W W. 30 M[inutes] & J F Smith 20 M[inutes].

Letter from Samuel R. Thurman, 17 August 1890
Provo City, Utah, Pres. Woodruff. Dear Bro. Just before the close of our last legislature I was informed by Bro. Booth that I was ecprested to call at your office at my earliest convenience and consult in relation to a contemplated mission I did so if you remember a few days before the session closed and you said something about deferring the matter until we had more leisure. As I have heard nothing I have been wondering lately if it was expected I would call at this office. At this time I supposed when you desired I would be notified and then I could call without interrupting other business My only object in writing is to inform you that I am at any time subject to your wishes in that regard I injured my eyes seriously last Spring So that I am contemplating possibly a trip to New York or London for treatment and I feel if I do go out into the world it would please me to put myself in a position to do as much good as I can as a latter day Saint. I trust
