Letter from Robert Allen Jones, 15 September 1890
Henefer President Wilford Woodruff Dear Bro according to promise I wish to inform you that I shall be ready to fill my mission on or about the 15th November next. I have no means to pay my fare, but if I can go to work till that time I think I can be ready. Trusting I shall hear favorably from you I remain your Bro in Christ R. A. Jones.
Letter from Charles William Stayner, 15 September 1890
Washington D. C. Presidents Woodruff Cannon and Smith Salt Lake, Utah; Dear Brethren, I herewith transmit the Semi-annual Report showing the statistical condition of the Northern States Mission for the Half year ending September 1st 1890, which is as full and correct as I have been able to make it from the reports of Conference Presidents aided by my personal knowledge of the Field. On the whole, I think it will be as gratifying to you as to myself to notice a general improve- ment. You will perceive that we have per- formed 27 baptisms during the Half year, while none were performed the half year previous to this. At least so Bishop Booth informed me. I have no doubt, however, that the Gos- pel had commenced to take root in the hearts of most of these new members some time ago, and we have but helped to complete the work already well begun when I reached the Field.
