14 I signed 34 Recommends I received 23 Letters
A hand pointing to the right I wrote 3 Letters to Delight {with fifty dollars} & 2 public
we met with Arthur Stayner & Clawson & Met
John T Caine on washington Affairs I received a
Letter from Judg Estee wh[o] Approved of my course
we have decided to have the Bank loan the Hedricks $20000
in Jackson County Mo & take the Temple Block as security
they will build a Meeting House on the Block
(Aug 15 1854 the wall around the Temple was completed)

Conejos Colo President Woodruff Salt Lake City Utah Dear Brother I Have Just received my notice of being called on a misshon to the States in Reply will say that my generall Health is verry Poor for the last 15 years of my life and I am getting gradualy worse I Have been under the Dr care for the last 8 months I was called upon about three or four weeks ago by a Bro Seventy to see How I felt in this matter at that time I was feeling quite well & Had been for a couple of weeks & I thaught Perhaps the Dr would cure me and I told Bro Sellers that I woud like to be sep apart on a short mishon to go to my native land and & teach my relations & friends what I could in my weak way Since then However I am verry Poorly & at the Presant I am sc Scarcely able to be about & I will ast for a reconsidderation in the matter & Hope I will be Honorable Excused for the Presant I am your Bro in the gosple James McCarroll to Pres W Woodruf The above is ^a correct statement of^ the true condition of Bro. McCarrolls health, he is at the present time in no condition to preform missionary labor John C. Dalton Bishop
