Dear Brother:
Your letter of the 12th inst. was duly received,
bearing the request of sister Frances Battersly Dance
to be sealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith, together
with her deceased sisters, Ann and Sarah J. Battersly,
and cousin, Jane Robson. To this we consent; and
Prest. Mierrill is hereby authorized to cancel the
sealing of Sarah Jane Battersly, to J. I. Hart on the
Records of the Temple. We think her Aunt, Hannah
Jane Clark should not be sealed to the Prophet, but
to some other man, say grandfather Joseph Smith, or
to any one she may chose, other than the Prophet.
We would suggest the propriety of having her Father
being adopted, not to the prophet as she contemplates,
if she and her sisters are sealed to him, but to some one
else- say- to the Prophet's father, if she desires it; or
to any one else as she may elect. It does not seem
proper for the daughters to be sealed to a man as wives, and
