A. H. Lund all testified before the Master in chauncery
upon the subject of Poligamy & church property

I received your unexpected letter Sunday 18th, which took me on sur[p]rize After considering my s[irc]umstances I think they are favo[r]able. I have a wife and two children the youngest over three years old. We are in pretty good sircumstances considering and out of debt, but as far as money to take me on my mission I will haft to borrow. I am willing to do that if requ^i^red realizing that with out sacrifice there is no blessing

Salt Lake City, U. T. Miss Lucy Woodruff My Dear grand Daughter I received your Note marked Private And I felt other ready it it was my Duty to write you a Note at least sufficient to explain one thing ie. concerning what I said to you about going to Susans the reason that I advised you not to go was I thought it as likely as not. you might be in the midst of Death & a funeral and it would be a vary unplesant visit, but you a great Deal more that it was worth I think. the amout of money spent that way would have Done you a great Deal more good spent some other Way it was not because I did not think you quite as Worthy as she was, in fact I consider you both vary worthy Daughters of Zion and I would be Willing to do any thing I could for either of you
