Letter from Marriner Wood Merrill, 2 December 1892

Logan, Utah, Prest. Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother is it prudent or wise to send out ^Home^ Missionaries who have and do indorse the utterences of Jos. L. Rawlings at Provo and also in Salt Lake Theater relative to the authorities of the Church; when I say Home Missionaries I mean those sent out in the sunday school interest; young mens associ ations, and Stake Church interest &c, includeing all Home Missionaaries who are sent out by some Church authority. My own views are there are a number of Elders who ought to repent and be Baptised for the remission of sins before they preach to the saints or to the world aney where, I do not want to be tecknical or over zelous, but it seems to me that the Church will not be benefitted by sending out Elders to the different Branches who are not in Harmony with the First Presidency in all their Councils; also a greats deal has been said about Bro Frank J. Cannon which has been unjust imprudent and wrong to say about aney Brother in the Church and yet those Brethern claim to be in Harmoney with the First Presidency &c Respectfully yours M. W. Merrill
