Letter from Cora Lindsay Bennion, 7 August 1893
To the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dear Brethren, I received a letter to attend the Sunday School Normal Course at the Brigham Young Academy at Provo. I am very sorry to say, that circumstances will not permit me to go. I think it's an excellant oppertunity, and I regret very much that I
Letter from Orson Smith, Simpson Montgomery Molen, and Isaac Smith, 7 August 1893
President Wilford Woodruff, Salt Lake City. Dear Brother:--- The Church Association of this stake, holding title to the Tabernacle Block and Tithing premises, were advised by you two years ag^o^ to sell the surplus Tithing ground, consisting of about 300 feet front on Main Street but in several pieces. We have not found a purchaser yet for any of it^,^ though we believe the 105 feet on the corner of Main and Third streets^,^ can be sold as soon as money gets easier; but the balance will not likely be in demand for business for some time yet. There is a piece on the extreme North side of the property 116 feet ^front^ by 125 ft. wher^e^ we used to stack our tithing hay, which we think could not be put to better use than for any other purpose to erect a Pavillion upon it for the recreation and amusement of our people^.^ If you should approve this, an Associatiton could be formed^,^ or a set of trustees be elected^,^ to hold and control the property, so that objectionable characters parties etc., could be restrained. We think means to erect the building could be gathered from the Logan wards, so that without much of an outlay of cash we could supply a plain, substantial building^,^ to serve for all the wards and thus avoid the necessity that now exists^,^ in all the wards of using ward meeting-houses for dances, theatres etc., We therefore ask that if it meets your mind, you aut^h^orize the transfer of the place of property referred to, and suggest anything you feel would be of assistance or benefit to us. With kindest regards, we remain, Your brethren in the Gospel, Orson Smith S. M. Molen Isaac Smith
