Letter from Barnard White, 16 October 1893

OGDEN, UTAH. To The Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:- Dear Brethren:- Agreeable to my promise to you, as per my letter of October 2nd., the matter of Bishop A. O. Ingellstrom, of Basalt, Idaho, was referred to our general manager; with instructions to thoroughly in- vestigate the same. In accordance therewith, I enclose you his full report, together with all the documents pertaining to the case, for your consider- ation. I regret very much that our company has, to all appearances, been compelled to collect the account from the bishop; but, owing to the tightness of the money market, and having heavy obligations out, we are compelled to use vigorous measures in our collect- ions. It is the policy of our board of directors, how- ever, not to use any harsh measures in this matter, unless it is absolutely necessary, in order to protect themselves. In this case the measures taken appear to have been absolutely necessary.
