Letter from Abraham Owen Woodruff, 20 May 1894
Prest. W. Woodruff and Wife Dearest Father and Mother: Your kind letters of April 30th have been received, & I hardly know how to pen words, to express my gratefulness to you for them. The Portraits of the Temple also came but am sorry to say were torn quite a bit. I suppose some person had taken them out before they reached me and either willfully injured them or else did so trying to replace them in their case. I shall keep one myself and make the "Mission" a present of the other, as compliments of Pa and myself. Am delighted with them & I assure you, you have my hearty thanks for the same. Dear Parents I have just returned from holding our Sunday services & will put a fiew of my thoughts on paper. We had a splendid meeting and so far as I myself am concerned I don't know when with one or two exceptions I ever felt the spirit of God so keenly. Mother in your last letter you said were it not that you knew I was where the Lord wanted me, you could not be happy during my absence (or words to that effect) Now I want to say to you my Parents that I thank God that I have a testimony that I am where he wants me. Never before have I felt it so strongly as this day. My posisition here requires me to become somewhat familliar with both Catholic and Protestent belief which exhists here, to be able to battle against ^them.^ There are some young people
