Letter from George Chandler Parkinson, 2 December 1894
Preston, Idaho, 189[4] Pres. Wilford Woodruff. Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Brother: Owing to the death of Bishop W. A. Coffin of Cambdrige ward wich occurred last June, it becomes necessary to appoint his succ- essor. To this end we have carefully canvassed the situation and d- esire to recommend for the position Elder Wm. A. Hyde. Brother Hyde is the son of Rosel J. Hyde of Keysvill^e^, Utah. He is about thirty-five years of age, has a family and apears to be well qualified to fill the position of Bishop. We wish also to call to your atention the condition of the Mc Common branch. The population has so increased that they have petitioned the Stake Predicency for a ward organization and we have selected, as a man in every respect qualified to be their bishop, Elder Alanson No- rton. Brother Norton is about seventy-five years of age. He is the father of a numerous and faifthful family of children most of whome live around him and constitute the grater portion of proposed new ward. The saints of the Mc Cammon branch have built a good mete- ting-house, and in every way are preparded for a ward organization. We also s^e^lected Brother John E. Dalley, the present princ- cipleal of the osO. S. academy, to fill the vacancy in the High Counsel occ- asioned by the death of the late Milo Andrus.
