Letter from Joseph John Daynes Sr., 24 April 1895

Salt Lake City. Pres't Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother Since the change in Bro. Stephen's affairs concerning the Tabernacle Choir there has been more work imposed upon me. In his anxiety to advance the choir as rapidly as possible he has called for extra rehearsals every week, for which I respectfully ask to be remumerated I have long thought that I was insufficiently paid for the work I was doing, which consisted in: presiding at the organ at all religious gatherings, keeping the organ in repair and spending one hour every morning through the summer in giving organ recitals for the benefit of Tourists. And now that these extra rehearsals are called for I feel justified in asking for an advance in my salary Yours very Truly Jos. J Daynes
