Letter to Abraham Owen Woodruff, 11 March 1896

Salt Lake City, Utah, . My dear Owen: I received your letter of Feb. 26th, also one to Alice, and one from President Naegle, all of which were of much interest to me. I want to make a bargain with you. If you will forgive me for ask- ing you to tell me how Bro. Ott died several days before he did die, I will forgive you for rowing me up Salt River in your letter and leaving me there to get back the best I could. These things are all right when they are understood. We heard of the death of Bro. Ott by letter a week before we got your letter, so I supposed he was dead before you wrote it. Again, as soon as you were appointed to preside in Berlin you seemed to be every where else laboring except in Berlin, and that was the cause of my writing as I did. But of course these things are all right. I wrote yesterday to President Naegle about releasing you brethren. I got a letter from him upon the same subject. He thiought it would be somewhat difficult to fill your places. He thinks of putting Bro. Cannon's son in your place in presiding at Berlin. I requested Bro. Naegle to liberate all of your company at the same time if he could, so you could all come home together. Now, Owen, I cannot write much today. I sent you a draft a few days since for $100, which I trust you will get. Our sister who is blind got a letter from Germany saying that you were quite sick, that you had such a cold you could not speak in public, but I trust you have got over it by this time. Well, I hope it will not be long before you will be on the way home. Give my love to all. As ever yours, Wilford Woodruff
