Prest. Wilford Woodruff— Dear Brother: By reading the Deseret News, we have at last, in this far away city, partaken, to some extent, of the Semi Centenial Jubilee spirit. Our people have been and are favored by the au- thorities of the Mexican Nation, and they seem to be interested in the investigation of the civiliz- ation, morality, and customs of the Mormon Col- onists in Chihuahua. We believe that this interest would be stimulated by some of the Mexican Officials visiting the Jubilee. It would at least give a better opportunity for becoming acquainted with the common-wealth of Utah, and the class of people who are asking colonization privileges in the Republic of Mexico. We think that, perhaps, this move would advance our interests in this country more than any thing else that could be done at present. We would suggest that Prest. Diaz, his Cabinet and perhaps some other leading men receive invitations to the celebration on the 24th of July, from the main Committee.
