Fairview Utah . President Wilford Woodruff Salt Lake City. Dear Brother. Yours of Jan 10th is before me, in which you desire to know my feelings respecting a mission to the Northern States. In reply I will say that I realize we are working in the cause of Christ, and I feel it my duty, as well as a pleasure, to obey the calls and commands of the authorized servants of God. Yes, I am willing to take the mission and will be prepared to leave Salt Lake City on Feb. 10th 1898. Your Bro. in the Gospel Oscar K. Hansen James C. Peterson Bp

Letter to Leonard John Nuttall, 13 January 1898

During the sojourn of Madam Van Pinkelstein Mountford in Utah, during the summer of 1897, I attended many of her lectures and addresses; (also her address on Sunday, Jany. 7th, 1898, before an assembly of many thousands in the Salt Lake Tabernacle) on the manners and customs of the people of Palestine, in all of which I was much pleased and highly entertained, in the clear and com- prehensive manner in which she lays before her audiences the several subjects of her lectures. Having been born in Palestine, and as she says lived there 22 years, and traveled through that and many other countries, she has accumulated a vast fund of knowledge and possesses the ability to impart that knowledge to those who hear her. Madame Mountford is an earnest and exceedingly talented woman, and from her excellent command of language makes very clear many of the parables of the Savior, and numerous passages in the Bible, from her personal knowledge of the people of the Holy Land. I have no hesitancy in endorsing her work and mission, and recommending her to the considerate attention of all people whom she may meet. Wilford Woodruff
